Sculpture "Protective goddess Isis" (original size), gilded
"I am everything that was, that is, and that will be..." is how an inscription on one of her countless statues describes the "magical realm" and "goddess with 10,000 names." For the Egyptians, she was primarily a mother, woman, and childbirth goddess. She was considered the mother of the gods and the patron goddess of the reigning pharaoh.
This figure was one of the four goddesses of protective, guarding the shrine with the intestines of the mummified Tutankhamun. The goddesses should protect the pharaoh in the hereafter and ward off the dangers of him. The shrine with the goddesses was discovered in a room right next to the coffin chamber. Egypt, 18th Dynasty, around 1335 BC Chr.
