Art photography “The Golden Lotus Lake” (2019) by Viet Ha Tran

This artwork is part of the 197th Annual Exhibition (May-June 2023) of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture. The original photograph was taken in Hanoi, Vietnam. It is part of my award-winning series, The Lotus Lake. This series received honorable mentions at the 2013 International Photography Awards and has been featured in numerous art magazines and national news outlets, including Vogue Italia, Widewalls, Vietnam News, and El Economista. The series has been exhibited in Paris, Madrid, at the Ducal Palace of Medinaceli (Spain), notably at the Saatchi Gallery in London, and auctioned by Christie's Hong Kong. The lotus flower is a symbol of Buddhism. It symbolizes beauty in darkness and the purity/strength of the heart, for although the lotus grows in muddy water, the flower becomes beautiful and pure. This art photograph was created using photographic and digital techniques, incorporating painted textures, and is inspired by Vietnamese lacquerware. This particular photograph was exhibited at the Ducal Palace of Medinaceli (Spain), as well as in Milan and Naples (Italy). Printed on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 g/m² paper. The photograph is signed on the back and a certificate of authenticity is included.
