Otto Waalkes is not only a comedian, singer, and actor, he is also a gifted draftsman and caricaturist (and, incidentally, a graduate of the Hamburg University of Fine Arts). His most famous caricature is the Ottifant. Originally designed as a logo for Otto's own record label, Rüssl Räckords, the pachyderm gradually became a trademark, indeed, a drawn alter ego of Otto himself. The same mischievous smile, the same prankster's gaze—in short, a portrait of the artist as a young Ottifant. And so, our edition in fine bronze not only commemorates the Ottifant, but also the great comedian Otto Waalkes.
