Teak wood is surprisingly easy to care for. Nevertheless, the right treatment determines the look your piece of furniture will take on over the years.

Honey brown or silver grey

silvery-grey patina over time when exposed to UV radiation outdoors . This is a purely visual process and does not affect the wood's stability.

• To maintain the patina: Clean the wood only once or twice a year with a brush and mild soapy water.
• To maintain the golden tone: If you want to preserve the original color, you should treat the wood regularly (about 1-2 times per year) with a special teak oil.

Everyday cleaning

Do not use harsh chemical cleaners or high-pressure cleaners! These will damage the wood structure and wash out the protective oils.

Tip: A mixture of warm water and castile soap (or neutral soap) is perfectly sufficient to remove surface dirt.

Although teak is frost-resistant, your furniture will thank you if it is stored dry and well-ventilated in winter (e.g. under a canopy or in an unheated shed).

Important: Avoid airtight plastic sheeting, as condensation can form underneath it, which could lead to mold.
