Following its highly successful premiere last year, the create:business on November 18, 2014 , at the Platz der Ideen (Square of Ideas) in Düsseldorf. It is expected to be bigger and more multifaceted than last year's event.

New features include an expanded lecture forum and the so-called create:business marketplace , where experts from different fields take time to answer the individual questions of founders and self-employed people in various creative professions .

Thus, once again during Founders' Week Germany, an innovative platform for all creative professionals from North Rhine-Westphalia will be created, inviting them to a lively networking event in the state capital. The high regard for the cultural and creative industries within North Rhine-Westphalia certainly plays a major role in the organization of this project.

It is considered one of the key industries in North Rhine-Westphalia for good reason. As early as 2012, one in four euros of the industry's total revenue of 36 billion euros in Germany came from North Rhine-Westphalia.

North Rhine-Westphalia is thus home to approximately 50,000 companies in the cultural and creative industries, employing more than 300,000 people. Reflecting this, the Start-Up Day aims to actively support creative entrepreneurs in establishing and growing their businesses.

Many creative professionals in Düsseldorf find it particularly interesting that NRW.BANK will be providing information about the recently launched NRW.Creative Loan .

“With create:business, we want to help these small, innovative companies better utilize their market potential,” emphasizes Immo Schiller, the second project manager of create:business. “The transfer of entrepreneurial know-how is essential for this. Equally important, however, is creating services that support small companies in the competitive landscape.”

According to the organizers, the NRW.Kreativkredit (NRW Creative Loan) is a step in the right direction, as many good ideas have failed so far precisely because of the lack of capital.

The following existential questions from the perspective of creative people are the focus:

  • How do I get the capital to realize my ideas?
  • Who will give me money for a prototype?
  • What should be considered regarding the artists' social security fund?
  • How do I manage to balance family and career?
  • How do I calculate my fees correctly?
  • How can I present my ideas confidently and compellingly?

Thanks to the commitment of our partners, create:business be offered free of charge to all participants. We are also pleased to announce that free childcare is provided.
