As a freelancer and part-time creative professional, I became aware of the platform Tutkit.com and the concept of its creative flat rate impressed me from the very first moment.

The operators' claim that this is the largest German-language resource for graphic design, photography, and web enthusiasts on the internet is probably not an exaggeration. This becomes clear quickly from the sheer abundance of tutorials and high-quality training courses within the members' area.

It quickly becomes apparent that the operators are anything but newcomers to the market, having accumulated many years of experience and channeled it into this relatively young platform. The impressive quantity and variety of high-quality training tutorials can hardly be explained otherwise.

It seems they've given considerable thought to how, where, and when people prefer to learn today, and have put together a comprehensive package that comes at a surprisingly affordable price. The result is a significant contribution to one of the major megatrends of our time – e-learning .

On what is probably the largest e-learning portal for graphics, web and photo editing in the German-speaking world, you can experience creative and multifaceted inspiration, further development and rapid knowledge acquisition with thousands of tutorials and video training courses.

Learning and application are combined in a coherent and consistent manner by providing templates, presets and numerous other working materials that match the training units.

The offer is rounded off by an independent performance monitoring system in the form of a quiz system and certificates .

These insights came to me very quickly, and one could almost say that I had been looking for such a platform for quite some time, one that would save me from having to buy expensive video tutorials individually and that I could access whenever there was a need for additional know-how in my everyday life as a freelancer .

I'd like to take you, the reader, along on my journey from the very beginning and share my first steps, experiences, and results on TutKit.com with you. So let's start at the very beginning…

Registration and login

It couldn't be easier! In just a few seconds, I successfully registered for free with a username, email address, and a password of my choosing.

In the confirmation email, I immediately received a short introductory video from the operators, which gave a preview of the learning experiences to come on TutKit.com . It also became clear that the creative subscription is closely linked to the e-learning community of PSD-Tutorials.de . There, creatives can connect with more than 380,000 registered members.

In addition, thousands of tutorials and video training courses, as well as countless downloads for the creative workflow, are available. These include approximately 7,000 tutorials and 12,000 downloads for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Cinema 4D, web design, and photography . An impressive wealth of material, in my opinion. A fairly active forum is also available for questions and problems.

But back to TutKit.com. After clicking the provided link to confirm, the registration is complete and I can now log in to the members' area.

Profile and settings

As a first step, I went to my profile and user account area to complete my profile data and adjust the settings according to my preferences.

I configured my user account settings so that tutorials are displayed as a slideshow on the overview page. I also wanted my completed training sessions and favorites clearly displayed, as well as personalized recommendations.

Finally, the user account also displays the currently active membership and its conditions, as well as a history of received invoices.

The training area

The central point of contact, which also serves as a kind of dashboard for members, is the homepage within the member area.

Homepage and overview

Here you will find, in descending order, the slideshow with highlights and new features, the currently booked training tutorials and favorites, a top selection with personalized recommendations, and finally the training catalog with all video trainings , tutorials, and templates.

The training catalog is presented in the form of tiles, which quickly provides a first insight into the respective training courses without having to constantly click on them.

Training catalog
Training catalog

The catalog content can be filtered by category using the menu above. If you want to search for a specific training course, use the search box at the top of the page. As you type, relevant suggestions will appear via auto-suggest.

Furthermore, the search results are logically pre-sorted into the categories "All Content" , "Video Tutorials" , "Text Tutorials" and "Templates & Presets" . This greatly simplifies finding the desired content. As a result, navigating the training area is very quick and easy.

My first video tutorial

To get started with the training world of Tutkit.com, I chose a topic that I'm already somewhat familiar with. This might make it easier for me to assess the quality of the training sessions, since I already have a point of comparison.

So I chose the video training course “Photoshop for Beginners & Advanced Users” from the “Graphic Design” .

The overview

Video training: Photoshop for beginners & advanced users
Video training: Photoshop for beginners & advanced users

The screenshot clearly shows that the course overview provides all relevant information about this training at a glance. The course image, in the form of a cover, just like you would expect to see on a conventional book cover, is located in the upper left corner.

This creates brand recognition when you browse through the course catalog again, and you can tell from the cover alone what the course generally offers. The middle section provides a summary of the course content and objectives. In my case, the Photoshop course, the content is summarized as follows:

  • Photoshop for Beginners: 46 Lessons in a 5.5-Hour Video Tutorial by Gabor Richter
  • Get an overview: Menus and functions that are important for your start
  • Understand the principle of layers and masks, and learn about all the tools and filters relevant to you
  • Includes: 35 practice files for participation and practical learning

Finally, on the right sidebar you will find a range of additional information, including the number of available videos, chapters, the length of all videos in hours, your own progress within this course, and a link to further detailed information and similar content.

Below you'll find the ratings this course has already received from participants in the form of reviews. This allows you to gauge the satisfaction of former participants and thus draw conclusions about the course's quality. We're already familiar with this rating system, with a maximum of 5 stars, from Amazon and similar platforms. With a single click, you can also open individual reviews in a lightbox.

The two buttons below allow you to download the content (depending on the rights of the chosen membership) and go directly to the "Quiz & Certificate" section to check your progress.

The training sessions

In the first video, the author of the course briefly introduces himself and explains, among other things, his motivation for creating this course and describes his experiences with the graphics editing program.

A real time-saver when completing the individual course videos is the "Download working files" . This allows you to download the necessary files for working through the unit with just one click, eliminating the need to search for them in menus or elsewhere online. This significantly improves the flow of the training.

Another great feature for a smooth workout is that the next session starts automatically after one video finishes – without any loading times. The progress bar also updates in real time, and completed sessions are automatically marked with a green checkmark. This way, you always have a clear overview of your progress.

You can also select any video from the course via the training module view below the current video. This means you don't have to follow the prescribed order and can skip units if you wish.

Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of the content, as well as its preparation and presentation. The learning experience is smooth, seamless, and very enjoyable. My only wish would be for better management of my courses and favorites within my user account. That would be a nice extra feature that would further enhance the usefulness of the eLearning platform.

The customer benefits

I recently had the opportunity to use all the functions and training features within a short period of time. This gave me deep insights into the platform, which I have summarized here.

Finally, I'd like to specifically address the customer benefits of Tutkit.com to provide you with some information to help you make your own decision. Is this platform the right choice for your needs and requirements? Let's take a look at the advantages:

6 concrete advantages of Tutkit.com

  1. Money savings: A significant advantage of a membership-based platform like Tutkit.com is clearly the cost savings compared to purchasing video training courses individually. Individual video courses in graphic and web design typically cost between €20 and €100 each. With Tutkit.com, you pay only a fraction of that as a monthly fee and gain access to a virtually endless array of courses, presets, and learning materials.
  2. Know-how at the touch of a button: Especially in creative professions, continuous learning and professional development are essential. A subscription therefore makes perfect sense. You have access to all courses at any time, without having to search for and purchase them individually. All creative topics are brought together in one portal: image editing , web design , SEO , 3D , office applications, marketing , and more. Whether you as a freelancer or as an employed designer, more knowledge and skills undoubtedly lead to higher earnings.
  3. Practical application: Learning can be a dry, dusty affair. We all know that. Here, however, the greatest emphasis is placed on practical application and immediate implementation, which not only makes learning significantly easier but also much more entertaining and engaging. What you learn can be applied directly during the training sessions; working materials, presets, and templates can be downloaded immediately, allowing you to see results instantly. Learning the way it should be!
  4. Platform independence: No app, special software, DVD player, or anything else is required. There is also no copy protection to access the content. You can conveniently access the content via desktop PC, tablet , or mobile device while on the go – regardless of time and place.
  5. Commercial use: What's quite unusual for a learning platform is the fact that all the included presets and design templates can also be used for your own commercial projects. This simplifies working with clients and saves a real amount of time. The professional templates provide a significant boost in productivity.
  6. Proof of success: Quizzes offer an effective way to assess the learning outcomes. Successes can then be documented with certificates. These can be used as references in applications and portfolios to improve the chances of securing employment or being awarded a specific project.

Conclusion

In short, I can say that TutKit.com is probably unique in the German-speaking market, offering a mix of video tutorials and suitable templates & extensions in a flat-rate subscription. Therefore, I can wholeheartedly recommend this platform and will myself use it extensively over the coming years to hone my skills and fill in any knowledge gaps.
