Up to 15 impressive works by international light artists illuminate the streets, alleys, and squares of Regensburg's historic old town and Stadtamhof. Regensburg will thus be transformed into a stage, a canvas, and a venue for the international light art scene.
A stroll through the city allows visitors to experience familiar and striking landmarks in a fascinating new light. Hidden gems and lesser-known spots await discovery. The diversity of the city and its public spaces can thus be viewed with fresh eyes.
Open call for artistic works at two locations in Regensburg
The RE.LIGHT Festival is launching its first edition and is now inviting artists and collectives to submit their (light) art projects. Light installations are being sought for two locations in Regensburg.
This call for entries is aimed at contemporary artists who light as a central element in their work. It is essential that the submitted artistic concept focuses on light as a primary medium and that it is an integral part of the work.
The open call offers a platform for innovative approaches to working with light and allows participants to present and implement their ideas in new ways. Applications are now being accepted!
Interested artists are invited to apply by November 26, 2023, 11:59 p.m. CET at www.relight-regensburg.de . Applications can be submitted in German or English.

A fundamental need for every artistically creative person is likely to be the ability to live off their art.
To secure one's own existence, it is essential to earn money with art. In fact, nowadays—contrary to the majority perception—many artists can live well from their creative work. Nevertheless, a significant majority of all freelance artists still rely on additional sources of income (e.g., teaching courses, commissioned work, side jobs, etc.).
Recognition as an artist often does not bring immediate financial security. Therefore, artists are often also life artists.
The opportunities to make a living from one's own art have, however, grown significantly due to the internet and social media. As an artist, however, you must be versatile and flexible to succeed. A certain degree of perseverance is also essential.
Customer relations and self-marketing are also important pillars for success as an artist .
