Anastassia Skopp, born and grew up in Russia, studied art at the Mordwinian art college from 1985 to 1992. Her work is strongly shaped by the spiritual teachings Eckhart, which sees flowers as symbols for the connection between material and spiritual. In her pastoses, semi-abstract paintings, she invites the viewer into a meditative world, which is enriched by influences of abstract expressionism and modern art. Skopp uses an innovative mixed media technique with undiluted acrylic paint, ink and structural paste as well as tools such as filler and fruit knife to create three-dimensional effects.
