Gerhard Richter, one of the most versatile artists of our time, defines himself without fixed intentions or styles. Born in Dresden in 1932 and emigrated to the west, he initially gained awareness through photo -realistic painting. Richter's work is characterized by constant reinvention; From figurative art to monochrome gray images to successful abstraction. In addition to painting, he is also active as a sculptor, photographer and performer, and his works achieve maximum prices on the art market. Despite his fame, judge remains modest and prefers to speak through his art. His "candle" oil painting was auctioned for almost 12 million euros and is considered a symbol of resistance in the GDR. The musician Eric Clapton is one of his important collectors. Richter received several prestigious awards, including the Praemium imperial and a comprehensive retrospective in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which is still the largest of a living artist there.
