Female nude “ON POINTES” by Jakob Wainshtein, handcrafted wooden sculpture

Sculptor Jakob Wainshtein was born in Stalingrad in 1944 and graduated from high school in Vilnius in 1961 before completing a master's degree in spacecraft and rocket engineering with honors at the Moscow Aviation University. During his 40-year career as an engineer, he has held numerous patents and inventions. Alongside his technical career, he developed a passion for woodcarving, which began in his school days and often served as a tool for modeling. His interest in the beauty of humanity and nature strongly influenced his art. This passion extends to hobbies such as artistic photography, underwater archaeology, and gliding. Today, this multi-talented artist dedicates himself entirely to sculpture, striving to depict the organic sensuality of feminine forms in the natural material of wood.
