Egon Schiele (1890-1918) was a co-founder of the Neukunst Group, which was created in 1909 and vehemently wanted to differentiate himself from the rigid traditions of academic art. After studying at the Vienna Academy (1906-09), his early work showed impressionistic influences before expressionist features incorporated into his painting from 1910. In particular, his girls, shaped by provocative sensuality, contradicted the understanding of moral at the time and briefly led to his in 1912. Schiele increasingly turned to a tectonic image structure and integrated cityscapes and landscapes into his works, which, however, always transported a dark mood of the offense. His portraits reflected the soul life of his models and brought him significant recognition. Schiele's work are key works between Art Nouveau and Expressionism and achieve maximum prices on auctions; The most important collection is in the Leopold Museum in Vienna.
