"The painting 'Nude' is not only a cornerstone of the extensive collection of works by the artist August Macke at the LWL Museum of Art and Culture in Münster, but also an outstanding example of the artist's handling of color and his ongoing engagement with nude painting. His interest lies particularly in the depiction of the figure's posture and form. Facial features—as is evident in 'Nude'—are often portrayed by the artist in a typified, reduced, and abstracted manner. In contrast, the postures of the models are depicted by August Macke in classical, almost academic poses."
