Yayoi Kusama saw the light of day in Japan in 1929 and first devoted himself to studying painting in Kyoto before moving to New York City in the late 1950s. Since her first solo exhibition in her home country in 1952, the works of the artist have been regularly observed in both individual and group exhibitions. In the mid-1960s, she consolidated her status as an important avant-garde artist in New York by organizing groundbreaking and formative happings, events and exhibitions.
