"This man is either crazy or he leaves us all far behind," Camille Pissarro already predicted over the Vincent van Gogh, born in 1853 as the son of a pastor. In fact, the Dutch should become the pioneer of modernity, which with its curved lines and bright colors initiated expressionism. While van Gogh hardly got the money for color and canvas during his lifetime and was dependent on the support of his brother Theo, his works today regularly generate double -digit millions of alvers at spectacular auctions.
