190 oil paintings and 108 drawings - During his stay in Arles from February 21, 1888 to May 3, 1889, Vincent van Gogh increased into a frenzy of creative. At the same time, a striking lightening of his color palette in the word is in the eye: In numerous letters, he requested from his brother Theo Chromgelb, Zinnober, Prussian Blue and emerald green, which he supported until his death, and subsequently uses these colors intensively. A shining example is the "Sternnacht over the Rhône", the description of which we described the great painter (and in his letters, often no less large prose (): "... a study by the Rhône, from the illuminated city, which in the blue river mirrors t. Above it is the starry sky - with the large bear - pink and gray sky on the cobalt blue, while the light of the city and its lights Reflexes red gold and bronze green are. " (Letter to Eugène Bloch)
