Munch represented the autumn based on an apple tree, the leaves of which have already turned yellow.

About Edvard Munch 1863-1944 The Norwegian painter and graphic artist Edvard Munch was one of the most important pioneers of Expressionism. His works revolve around the great human tragedies between Eros and Death, Munch relentlessly and vividly stood the deepest human feelings. The oppressive mood of his most famous work "The Scream" was typical of Munch, who in his art often dealt with the existential questions of life, primarily with fear, despair, melancholy, grief, death, love and jealousy. In this dark choice of topics, there can be references to his biography: Munch lost early mother and sister and fought his life with depression and alcohol addiction. Like hardly any other artist, Munch was able to express his soul state and to impressively put the emotional topics on the screen. Although he painted in figurative, he made his motifs appear in peculiarly deformed and used a very dynamic painting style with powerful colors. Edvard Munch made an innovative visual language and its way of symbolically presenting the state of mind and one of the most important painters of the 19th and 20th centuries.
