Caspar David Friedrich: "The Lonely Baum" (1822), limited reproduction

Image "The lonely tree" (1822), framed

The lonely tree from 1822, representative of Germany, is damaged by the occupation of the French. There is already a positive development in the area around the tree: the rising daylight is the symbol for a bright, better future.

For many viewers, Friedrich's painting stands for the battered nature. But a shepherd is leaning against the tree, symbol of hope for healing and harmony between man and creation.

In the Fine-Art Giclée procedure, transferred to 100% cotton and pulled on a stretcher frame. Limited edition 499 copies. In solid wood galleries. Format 57 x 75 cm (h/b).

Original: Old National Gallery, Berlin.

Caspar David Friedrich is considered the most outstanding German Romantic painter, whose works reflect a profound connection to nature and a spiritual dimension. His meticulously painted landscapes often depict solitary figures gazing longingly into the distance, conveying romantic and religious sentiments through symbolic metaphors such as the moon or tree stumps. After his training in Copenhagen, Friedrich settled in Dresden, where he was surrounded by prominent poets. The close connection between painting and poetry shaped his work and reveals emotions that transcend words. Ultimately, he strove to offer insights into the human soul through his art and to connect with the Romantic movement's eternal quest for inner fulfillment.
