Caspar David Friedrich is considered the most important German painter of romanticism, whose introspective closeness to nature and religious sensitivity make him a romantic prime example. Its detailed paintings radiate metaphysical transparency and convey not only external, but also inner worlds. His depictions of landscape in particular are central to his work and often show lonely figures that look longingly into distant scenarios - inspired by extensive hikes in nature. It expresses romantic and religious feelings through symbolic motifs such as the moon and tree stumps. After completing his training in Copenhagen, Friedrich settled in Dresden, where the creative exchange with poets like Tieck and Schlegel shaped his art. His works reflect emotions that are inherent in poetry, and strive to give an insight into the human soul as well as the mirrors of eternity in ourselves.
