Peter Hermann (born 1962 in Bietigheim) began his artistic career with an apprenticeship as a stonemason, which provided him with the fundamentals of sculpture. During his studies at the University of the Arts in Bremen, he discovered the freedom of artistic creation and chose wood and bronze as his preferred materials. His sculptures explore the human condition and radiate a steadfast, earthy presence, often accompanied by animals such as fish and owls, or by everyday objects. The figures are reduced to their essence; their restrained gestures and introspective gaze lend them a quiet dignity.
