Together with Skopas and Lysipp, the Athens Praxiteles is considered the most important sculptor of the late classic. The artist surrounds his statues with a veil of calm thoughtfulness, which strangely delensed the figures, while the viewer is just involved in the area of activity of the artwork as a witness to this seclusion. The originals of his works have been lost and would be irretrievably if the Romans had not made any replicas from them in antiquity. Then, however, a unique find shook posterity: Greek fishermen from the sea near Marathon a young statue of incomparable beauty, which can undoubtedly be attributed to the practical.
