About Susanne Boerner: Susanne Boerner, born in Göttingen, has worked successfully as a designer of ceramics, wood, and metal for many years. She is a firm believer in handcraftsmanship, and thus her weatherproof sculptures—often in unusual material mixes of ceramic, wood, and metal—are created in small series and are shaped and painted by hand. Boerner's distinctive objects are often colorful, often a little quirky—but always full of imagination and humor. Since March 2017, her works have also been spreading cheer in Brussels: To mark the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, her large sculpture ensemble "European Citizens" was installed as a permanent exhibition in front of the European Commission building—13 life-size figures made of metal and clay adorn Place Jean Monnet, named after one of the founding fathers of European integration.
