"The impending amor", 1757 (as a small sculpture)
A love play in art history: Falconets Amor.
As early as 1755, Falconet presented a plaster model of his amor and triggered enthusiasm among the critics of his time. Two years later, together with his no less famous work "La Beigneuse", he was presented as a marble statue. Amor's finger, referring to the locked lips, promises confidentiality. And yet he seems to be aware of every human skill, smiling into himself, smiling into himself.
Original: Musée du Louvre, Paris. Marble.
Museum replica, stone casting, cast by hand. Format 12 x 24 x 13.5 cm (b/h/t), weight 2.5 kg.
