Bronze sculpture “Family”, 3-part, by Maria-Luise Bodirsky, limited edition
3-part sculpture “Family”, bronze
Bodirsky interprets the "spherical man" as two upright human figures that only form a whole when joined together. Within them, however, lies the deeper meaning of their union – the child – protected and secure.
Three-part bronze sculpture, cast using the lost-wax process, hand-chased and patinated. Limited to 99 numbered and signed pieces. Height 22 cm (pair), height 10 cm (child). Weight 3.9 kg.

The fundamental elements of earth, water, fire, and air are what sculptor and ceramicist Maria-Luise Bodirsky, born in 1952, connects in her sculptures and working process. Clay is her primary means of expression as she captures, explores, and depicts the inner and outer circumstances of her figures. Bodirsky draws inspiration for her archaic-looking figures from early human history, Egyptian civilization, Greek mythology, and the Old Testament, as well as from modern literature such as that of Pablo Neruda.
