Sculpture “Amore”, bronze green version

Bruno Bruni never shied away from depicting powerful emotions. This is also true of "Amore": his couple, locked in a tender embrace, portrays two lovers, and, if you will, love itself in its dual nature of deep emotional affection and sensual desire.

Sculpture in fine bronze, green patinated, partially polished. Hand-cast using the lost-wax process. On a base of diabase natural stone.

Limited total edition of 960 copies, of which 480 copies are in bronze brown and 480 copies are in bronze green (offered here), numbered and signed.

Format 41 x 11 x 11 cm (H/W/D). Weight approx. 5.5 kg.

Truly a life dedicated to art: Bruno Bruni, an internationally acclaimed and successful painter, graphic artist, and sculptor, has worked as a freelance artist for over six decades, creating a diverse and extensive body of work that captivates collectors and art lovers worldwide. Without adhering to any particular school, he developed an individual style early on, building upon figurative elements reminiscent of the Renaissance and Mannerism, while also revealing other influences such as Surrealism. Bruni's depictions often radiate a captivating beauty and grace, which he skillfully contrasts with elements like the absence of faces. His choice of subject matter is equally compelling. There are his classics, which he continually varies and combines, such as sensual female nudes, the trench coat, and the amaryllis. In contrast, with motifs like the Warsaw Ghetto, Sophie Scholl, Anne Frank, Rosa Luxemburg, and Che Guevara, he also creates moments of reflection. Color lithography, in particular, allowed Bruni a high degree of spontaneity and freedom during the creative process. His slender female nudes, still lifes, and delicate floral motifs derive their erotic appeal from the graphic expression. His flower still lifes are reminiscent of Albrecht Dürer's graphic nature studies. However, Bruni is not concerned with a detailed reproduction of the subject, but rather with the sensual radiance of the floral objects. Thus, as is typical of drawing, the line dominates, appearing to be in a constant state of gliding and balance. The motif is defined by the serpentine, the beautifully curved, serpentine line. The minimally structured internal form invites an intense exploration of the contour. Bruno Bruni was born in 1935 in Gradara, Italy, and grew up in impoverished circumstances. He discovered painting as a child and began his studies at the Istituto d'Arte di Pesaro in 1953. In 1960, he transferred to the Hamburg University of Fine Arts, where he was accepted without any entrance exams and studied under the painter and graphic artist Georg Gresko, and later under Paul Wunderlich. Bruni left the university in 1965—albeit without a final exam—but he was already able to sell his first paintings and in 1967 received a scholarship from the Lichtwark Prize of the City of Hamburg. In 1968, in protest against the mechanisms of the art market, he and other artists founded the cooperative "CO-OP," and shortly thereafter, he achieved his well-deserved breakthrough. Despite all his success, Bruni remains, then as now, an authentic artist who refuses to be co-opted by the art establishment or follow trends. He has never been able to identify with the elitist aspirations of the art scene; "Art must be for everyone," he says, and not just for rich people. Since beginning his exhibition career, Bruni has shown his work in numerous art institutions, including those in London, Rome, Munich, Milan, Amsterdam, Tokyo, New York, Zurich, and St. Petersburg. In 1977, he was awarded the prestigious "International Senefelder Prize" for his lithographs, and in 2003 he received a very special honor for his contributions to contemporary art – the title "Official Knight of the Republic of Italy". In 2014, Bruni received an honorary doctorate from the Russian-Armenian University in Yerevan.
