Bronze sculpture "To Embrace" by Ann Vrielinck

In her bronze sculptures, Belgian artist Ann Vrielinck explores and questions aspects of human action and social behavior. She often illustrates these themes in the form of groups of slender, highly abstracted bodies cast in rough, untreated bronze. She always requires only a few details to clearly reveal the gestures and movements of her figures. Ann Vrielinck (*1966) began her artistic training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bruges. In 1988, she received an advanced degree from the St. Lucas School of Arts. She later also obtained a teaching certificate and took several courses in the restoration of paintings and ceramics. She now teaches fine art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bruges.
