Bronze sculpture "Passion" (2012) by Helge Leberberg

Helge Leiberg, born in 1954 in Dresden, studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Music runs like a thread through the work of this multimedia artist, who has realized numerous music projects with AR Penck, among others. Helge Leiberg's world of images and sculptures consists of symbolic figures, slender, with extra-long limbs and expansive gestures. Their dance-like gestures reveal pure life: sometimes self-forgetful, sometimes interacting, they express affection and aversion, struggle and union. His work is characterized by his masterful use of line and virtuoso depiction of movement. Leiberg draws inspiration from the mutual influence of painting, dance, and music. He played in a band with AR Penck and created performances with Christa Wolf at the Salzburg Festival. Helge Leiberg was awarded the Brandenburg Art Prize for Painting in 2013. His works are part of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, the Würth Collection and many other public and private collections.
