The simultaneous contrast of co -side colored surfaces is the relevant design feature for Delaunay's circular structure "Disque (Le Premier Disque)".

inspired by the neo-impressionism of a George Seurat early, the Frenchman Robert Delaunay (1885-1941) painted from 1911 together with the artists of the group "The Blue Rider". At the first exhibition of the Munich group of artists, he even sold most of the pictures of all.
In contrast to Kandinsky, the light was in the foreground at Delaunay. His window pictures, the "Fenêtre", led him to his - as Guillaume Apollinaire later called it - "Orphism". In doing so, vibrating color areas form the form to be formed. During this time, Delaunay finally turns away from abstract cubism.
The various "Formes Circulaires", which started in the same year, represents a further development of his "Fenêtre" series and founded the beginning of abstract painting in France in 1912.
