About Robert Mangold
*in 1937
after studying art, Robert Mangold worked as a supervisor in the Museum of Modern Art in New York in the 1960s. In the meantime, the museum houses numerous works by the artist, which has long been one of the most renowned painters of American minimalism.
If he first painted in the style of abstract expressionism, Piet Mondrian's formal rigor convinced him to artistically go to minimalist paths. With calculation and precision, he researches the relationships between shape, line and color. Nevertheless, a playful lightness lives in his work.
