Mainzelmännchen "Det, The Denker" as a bronze sculpture
Another star in the great successor of Rodin's "thinker": the clever det, the Mainzelmännchen-Denker. The edition limited to 499 copies in multi -colored patinated bronze is cast with great craftsmanship in the traditional wax outlet process.
Each copy is created exclusively for Ars Mundi, Wolf Gerlach's signature and is numbered individually. Every sculpture is unique.

50 years of screen experience, more than 40,000 short spots and several other “capers”. The Mainzelmännchen are cult. Since April 2, 1963, they have accompanied our everyday life and many of us have already loved Anton, Berti, Conni, Det, Edi and Fritzchen as a child.
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary in 2013, there is now another bronze sculpture in our Mainzelmännchen series. Formed by her intellectual father, the graphic artist and stage manufacturer Wolf Gerlach personally and released from him and the ZDF in a strictly limited edition exclusively for Ars Mundi.
Wolf Theodor Gerlach, born in Pomerania in 1928 and grew up on the North Sea island of Langeoog, developed an interest in the technology of performing art early on. After completing his training as a film chest as well as stage and costume designers, he gained initial experiences in Oldenburg before moving to Braunschweig and Wiesbaden. In the early 1960s, Gerlach turned to the advertising film and in 1963 invented the iconic Mainzelmännchen for the opening of the ZDF.
