"I want to create human types and not portraits, and I want the essence of space and no interiors." Oskar Schlemmer summarized the approach of his art in a few words. The space itself is its topic - and man itself. It would be wrong to see in the carefully composed limb puppets to see, even "alienated" people. It is no coincidence that they remember archaic role models who worship Schlemmer as the highest expression of human design.
