Born in 1950, sculptor Raimund Schmelter initially trained as a goldsmith before his strong interest in reduced and stylized representations led him to the fine arts. Schmelter's works exhibit a graceful linework that reveals he develops his designs in countless paper sketches before realizing them in his own studio.
