Bronze sculpture by Paul Wunderlich "Victoria" (2008) handmade

The flowing skirt suggests the sculpture's forward momentum. Its curved surface is brought to life by the contours and three folds of the garment. While the front contour of the skirt runs straight downwards, albeit at a slight angle, the back contour is articulated in gentle curves. The smoothness of the garment is complemented by the pearly surface of the bodice, accentuated by the geometry of the bosom. And then there is the wing: it is remarkable how meticulously Wunderlich arranges the feathers, creating a form that deviates from conventional representations. The use of color is also noteworthy: the gold of the skirt and wing, reflecting the surrounding light; the black of the plinth and the upper edge of the wing, which defines the sculpture's top and bottom; and the subdued gray-brown of the torso are further elements that differentiate the sculpture while simultaneously creating a unified whole.
