Max Liebermann formed the triumphant virate of German Impressionism with Lovis Corinth and Max Slevogt and was given numerous honors throughout his life. Due to his commitment to raise life and work of the simple person into art, Liebermann first had to fight for recognition. For Max Liebermann, nature was always a paradise made by humans (and inhabited by them). He found his motifs in gardens, parks and bourgeois entertainment facilities. Liebermann is a master of the staged light, which he - often broken by a canopy - falls on his scenes. The individual bundles of radiation, which were penetrating up to the ground, are striking, which went down in art history as the "Liebermannsche Sonnenflecken".
