Umberto Boccioni (1882-1918) counts together with Tommaso Marinetti as the main representative of Italian futurism. In February 1910 he published the "Manifesto of Futuristic Painting", in which he asked the artists to break away from outdated and traditional norms. You should devote yourself to a new art that corresponded to the mechanization and the futuristic future. Posthums were boccionis works on the documenta i-iii. Boccioni's works are characterized by a dramatically tensioned division of the areas. Afterwards, he believed that not only a moving but also a resting body can create an equally dynamic effect - since everything is basically subject to the dynamics of the universe. A milestone of modern art became the sculpture "Forme uniche della continuity nello spazio", translates "unique forms of continuity in the room", which is one of the main works of the collection in the MoMA, New York. Boccionis sculpture is also shown on today's Italian 20 cents.
