Günter Grass, born in Ganzig in 1927, is considered an important representative of German literature. In addition, he also made a name for himself as a sculptor, painter and graphic artist. Not without his own canonia, he said of himself: "As a visual artist, I am a more learned, as a writer of unskilled artists." The trained painter painted as he was: lyrically poetic, idiosyncratic justice. In Grass' pictures, all three basic types of poetry are formed in one: drama, epic and poetry. "Grass' secret lies in the precarious and unique balance that he was able to produce between his anarchic imagination and his superior artistic mind." (Hans Magnus Enzensberger)
