Why water is important for your creativity

Most of us spend a large portion of our time doing things that don't necessarily lead to a richer or more creative life. Most of us get up in the morning, shuffle to work, come home, eat dinner, and fall into a mindless sleep cycle programmed into our brains by advertising and society. But some of us have another side that exists outside of this routine.

The other part of us dreams big and strives for greatness. It seeks challenges and opportunities for growth. This part of us is connected to something greater than our daily lives. It is connected to the universe. This part of us is connected to our creative self. The first step to discovering one's own creativity is understanding the strange but necessary connection between water and creativity.

What happens to your creativity when it's dried up? Most of us spend so much time on "busy work" that it blocks our ability to think creatively.

Think about it: How long has it been since you did something truly creative? Something that pushed you outside your comfort zone and forced you to grow? How long has it been since you wrote a poem, painted a picture, created a website, or performed a song?

These are all acts of true creativity. They require focus, concentration, and energy. But, as I said before, most of us spend so much time doing things that don't challenge us that we literally deplete our creative reservoir. The result is that we become parched and bland, and our ability to create diminishes.

The truth is: if you don't give your creative self some water, it will shrivel and die. And when that happens, you might as well give up, because there's no point fighting an empty tank.

There is a strange but necessary connection between water and creativity. Creativity requires focus, concentration, and energy.

What does drinking water have to do with creativity?
Water plays a major role in creativity

But more importantly, it also requires a constant source of "water"—something that provides an endless supply of new ideas and possibilities. If you're depleted, your brain literally shrinks and dies. It becomes parched and unable to absorb new information. And without that new information, your creative tank will quickly run dry, and you'll stagnate.

Water is the source of all life on Earth and the source of all creation. It is the substance from which all things are made. It is truly the "mother" of all things. And creativity, at its core, is a nurturing process.

It's about exploring new ideas and ways to hydrate your brain.

Let's not kid ourselves: Life is difficult. And creativity is hard. Trying to find new ideas and solutions to problems is extremely difficult.

The Idiot-Savant – the Unconscious Genius

That's why evolution has programmed a survival mechanism into our brains, the "idiot savant". The "idiot savant" is an expert at getting things done efficiently without thinking.

It's the part of your brain that allows you to drive a car or ride a bike without training. This part of your brain exists outside of your conscious awareness. It's the "unconscious genius" that does the real work in creating and solving problems.

But this part of your brain can only function effectively if it's properly nourished. And the way it's nourished is by feeding it new energy. And that's exactly where water comes in.

Did you know that your brain is 90% water? And did you also know that your brain is 60% water even before you're born? That means you're literally swimming in an ocean of ideas and possibilities.

The outside world provides you with an endless supply of these ideas and possibilities. But your task is to select the ones that actually work.

This requires focus, concentration, and energy. But the rewards are enormous. By feeding your unconscious genius with new ideas and possibilities, you enable it to generate solutions to problems you didn't even know you had.

In other words, you create solutions for problems you never knew existed.

This is one of the main functions of the master creator – to discover problems that no one else has discovered. The way to do this is to give your brain an endless supply of water.

Drink More Water Challenge by Waterdrop

Take part in Waterdrop's Drink More Water Challenge . It's simple: Every day for 21 days, you'll try to increase your daily water intake. I know it's hard. But you'll find it's worth the effort. And why?

Drink More Water Challenge by Waterdrop

Because research shows that increasing your water intake by just 2-1/2 cups per day makes a dramatic difference to your quality of life. This research, by the way, was conducted on patients with heart disease.

And it proves what ordinary people who don't suffer from heart disease already know – the most important thing you can do to prevent heart disease is… drink more water! An alternative to water can also be tea, for example, as tea consumption has also been proven to increase creative power.

Fresh fruit and vegetable juices are another great option worth considering. A slow juicer like the Hurom H320 vertical juicer presses ingredients at a low speed, preserving most of the vitamins and minerals. This is an easy way to give your brain a good boost between creative sessions.

The purpose of this challenge is not to force you to endure an endless series of water diets. That would be both cruel and an unusual punishment. No. The purpose of this challenge is to slowly but surely increase your water intake to a level where you experience continuous health benefits.
