Care instructions

When natural teak wood is combined with raffia (often rattan or Viennese wickerwork), two materials meet that are both naturally very durable, but require different care.

1. Care of natural teak wood (untreated)

• Dusting: A dry or at most slightly damp cloth is perfectly sufficient.
• To avoid stains: Blot up spills immediately. Because the wood is porous, fats or intensely colored juices are quickly absorbed.
• Cleaning: If necessary, use only mild natural soap (e.g., green soap). Do not use harsh household cleaners, as these will strip away the protective natural oils.
• Maintaining the color: Untreated teak will lighten slightly over time or develop a silvery patina. If you want to retain the warm wood tone, you should treat it once or twice a year with a special teak oil or teak treatment.

2. Care of the raffia weave

• To prevent brittleness: The mesh can become brittle in dry, heated air. Occasionally spray the back (!) of the mesh with a fine mist of water (possibly with a little salt added). This keeps the fibers flexible.
• Cleaning crevices: Use the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the gaps.
• Beware of sunlight: Direct, prolonged exposure to sunlight will eventually make the raffia brittle and bleach it.

Distance from the heating system : Do not place the piece of furniture directly next to a radiator or on active underfloor heating. The dry heat can cause cracks in the wood and the bast fibers to break.
