About the artist Alison Wright:

Alison Wright was a renowned documentary photographer and author who was celebrated for her work for the documentation of endangered cultures and human problems around the world. Her outstanding career brought her numerous Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Awards and a Dorothea-Lange scholarship for documentary photography of UC Berkeley.

The training of Wright at Syracuse University and UC Berkeley shaped their unique perspective, which was further deepened by an almost fatal accident in Laos in 2000. This important event is described in its memoirs "Learning to Breathe". Tragically, Alison Wright died on March 23, 2022 from the consequences of a heart attack while diving on the Azores.
