the right electric guitar : there's more to consider than just the cool design. But what should a beginner look out for when they make music ?

Quality or test device?

A good electric guitar isn't exactly cheap, and many parents believe their child's dream of a rock star career is fleeting. They'd prefer to try a cheaper model to see if their child will stick with it. But that's a mistake, because especially in the beginning, a high-quality instrument is essential.

If a beginner practices their first chords on a poor-quality guitar, the sound will quickly suffer, causing them to lose interest in practicing regularly. A compromise might be to start with a used but high-quality guitar before investing in an expensive model.

Even the coveted Fender Stratocaster can be bought used for a reasonable price.

Choose the model yourself

There are of course numerous beautiful electric guitar models, but they don't always appeal to everyone. Choosing your first guitar yourself allows you to develop a direct connection to your instrument and foster a long-term passion for making music.

The appearance is not the most important factor when choosing your first guitar, but it is crucial that the design can also contribute to a long-term commitment to the instrument.

Electric guitars for different music styles

An electric guitar isn't necessarily only used in heavy metal ; it's also used in country and pop music . Therefore, you should be clear about what kind of musical direction you're aiming for.

After a detailed consultation with a specialist salesperson, also with regard to the desired music genre, the appropriate guitar can then be chosen.

The sound is what matters

What kind of guitar sound should you want? Do you want a clear sound, which can be produced by so-called single-coil pickups , or do you also want to create distorted, unique sounds with the electric guitar, which are then produced by so-called humbuckers ?

Depending on the preferred sound, the guitar must also be chosen.

Humbucker with powerful sound

In hard rock or blues, most professionals rely on the powerful sound produced by humbuckers. The warmer sound can also be an advantage of a humbucker guitar, as it simply sounds richer.

As a beginner who doesn't yet know much about single coins and humbuckers , you should try out different electric guitars in a specialist shop and listen carefully, because the sound is an important criterion when buying your first electric guitar.

Accessories are included

A guitar alone isn't enough. Unlike acoustic guitars, which generally don't require any accessories, electric guitars, such as the Fender Stratocaster, come with quite a few accessories.

amplifier is a must-have, and a gig bag or case is also essential for any guitarist. Likewise, consumables like picks and strings need to be purchased regularly to ensure long-term musical enjoyment .
