About Auguste Rodin (1840-1917)-The most important sculptor of the transition period from the 19th to the 20th century: François-Auguste-René Rodin is considered an ingenious renewer of the sculpture and, along with Praxiteles, Michelangelo, Cellini and Canova, one of the greatest sculptors of all time. His sculptural work is so extensive that no complete catalog of his works has yet appeared. It would certainly include several hundred pages. Rodin studied art at the school for applied art because he was rejected three times at the Paris University of Art. Rodin was a glowing admirer of beauty. The human body, which he repeatedly captivated in his "Vérité fugitives", immortalized him at the moment of the moment: lively, pulsating beauty, which took up imperative shape under his creative hands. Whatever created Rodin with his hands, radiates tremendous vitality and untamed power. His sculptures with their frequently broken surfaces initiated a new era of sculpture. The ingenuity of Rodin's modern formal language, which expressed itself with elements of impressionism, left the listed pose of the academic style and mental constitutions rave in moving surfaces, still had to be recognized: "Kühnheit of the light - modesty of shadow" - Rodine composed this dialogue of the increases and reductions in the "skin" of its sculptures.
