About Bruno Bruni (*1935, Italian painter, graphic artist and sculptor): "Art must be for everyone." Truly a life for art: Bruno Bruni, internationally celebrated and successful painter, graphic artist and sculptor, has been working as a freelance artist for over six decades and created a wide and extensive oeuvre that inspires collectors and art lovers worldwide. Without seeing a specific school, he had developed an individual style early on, which builds on figurative elements, as you know from Renaissance and mannerism, but also reveals other influences such as that of surrealism. Bruni's representations often emit a beguiling beauty and grace, which he skillfully opposes counterpoints such as missing faces. He also convinces with very different subjects when choosing a motif. There are his classics, which he always varies and also combined, such as sensual women's files, the trench coat or the amaryllis. In contrast, he creates thoughtful moments with motifs such as the Warsaw Ghetto, Sophie Scholl, Anne Frank, Rosa Luxembourg or Che Guevara. In particular, Bruni allows the colored phrase to have a high degree of spontaneity and freedom during the process of creating. His female over -slim file, still lifes or delicate flower motifs receive their erotic charm through the drawing expression. His flower still life is reminiscent of the graphic natural studies by Albrecht Dürer. However, Bruni is not about the detailed reproduction of the motif, but about the sensual radiance of the floral objects. Typical for the drawing, the line dominates, which seems to be gliding in a constant gliding and even. The motif is defined by the serpentine, the beautifully curved snake line. The less structured internal shape invites you to an intensive model for the contour. Bruno Bruni was born in Gradara Italy in 1935 and grew up in poor conditions. Bruni had already discovered painting for himself as a child and so he began studying at the Istituto d'Arte di Pesaro in 1953. In 1960 he moved to the Hamburg University of Fine Arts, where he was accepted without every entrance exam and studied with the painter and graphic artist Georg Gresko, later with Paul Wunderlich. In 1965, Bruni left the university - without a final exam, but he was already able to sell his first pictures and in 1967 received a scholarship of the Lichtwark Prize in Hamburg. In 1968 he founded the cooperative "Co-OP" in protest against the mechanisms of the art market with other artists, and a little later he made the deserved breakthrough. But with all success, Bruni is then as now an authentic artist who neither can be taken nor follow trends. Even with the elite claim of the art scene, he could never identify, "art must be for everyone," he says, and not just for rich people. Since the beginning of his exhibition activity, Bruni has shown his works in numerous art houses, among other things in London, Rome, Munich, Milan, Amsterdam, Tokyo, New York, Zurich and St. Petersburg. In 1977 he was awarded the renowned "International Senefelder Prize" for his lithographs, in 2003 he received a very special honor for his services to contemporary art - the title "Official Knight of the Republic of Italy". In 2014, Bruni received the honorary doctorate of the Russian-Armenian University in Eriwan.
