About the artist:

Alex Solodov is an artist living in Portugal. He was born in Moscow, Russia in 1971.

Alex started painting and drawing at the age of 13. During his studies at the Stroganov University of Arts in Moscow, he mainly focused on abstract, surreal and expressionist painting and drawing styles. At the same time, he was inspired by the Indonesian batik dyeing technology and created many works of art in this style, using silk fabrics as a canvas.

At the moment Alex mainly paints expressionist pop art portraits in Sumi-e in the ink and water color-painting techniques, many of his works are inspired by Japanese and Portuguese culture. He also likes to travel through Portugal and the island of Madeira and paints expressionist landscapes, cityscapes and oceanic images.

More than 200 works of art by Alex were shown in private collections, corporate collections and galleries around the world (including over 100 sold here at Artfinder) in Great Britain, Australia, Germany, Lithuania, the USA, Austria, France, Denmark, Russia and Brazil.

His latest exhibitions include:

2012 - Group exhibition "Cat People", St. Ink Gallery, Bucharest, Romania.
2011 - 4th Moscow Biennale for contemporary art (parallel program, "Invasion" project), Art Play Design Center, Moscow, Russia.
2010 - Group exhibition in Bo Sigvardson Gallery, Rodby, Denmark.
