"Coffee table" by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (limited reproduction)

Dealing with Kirchner's work during the Nazi era is exemplary for the National Socialist art policy: more than 600 pictures of Kirchner were removed from the museums. His "coffee table" from 1923 testifies to the chosen perspective of his preoccupation with cubism, but is all of Kirchner in his extensive abstraction. It shows the family's conversation as a moment of intimate familiarity and relaxed calm and not least invites the viewer to it with its bright, warm colors.
