Paul Wunderlich has masterfully combined the owl's characteristic features in his bronze sculpture. With its wings folded, it sits watchfully before the viewer, for only at dusk does Minerva's owl spread its wings. Nothing seems to escape its wide-open eyes. This expression of alertness is further emphasized by the 360-degree rotating head, which can scan in all directions. The artist's distinctive style elevates this sculpture to a masterpiece. Wunderlich skillfully textures the bronze, giving it a three-dimensional quality. The green and gold patina lends the bird a sense of life and authenticity.
