Paul Wunderlich, like few other artists of our time, was one of the truly style-defining artists of modernism. As recently as 1960, the Hamburg public prosecutor's office confiscated his works as "offensive." Three years later, the still-young Paul Wunderlich was appointed professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. "His works are recognized and appreciated worldwide, and are also purchased by a broad public," writes Paul Wunderlich's biographer, Jens Christian Jensen. "Art experts agree: Paul Wunderlich is the leading master of fantastic realism and one of the few style-defining artists of our time."
