Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) revolutionized not only the American, but also European art in a few years. He gave a completely new dimension to the style of the action painting, in which the manufacturing process of the artwork itself is in the foreground. "Jack the Dripper" let the color flow directly from the can onto the canvas lying on the floor until the rhythmic patterns typical of it formed from color drops and flows. As the most important American contemporary artist, he retired from painting two years before his early death. It was a sensation when 32 previously unknown works were found in a New York warehouse in 2005.
