We have already reported Cultural Association Act Its introduction now shows an undesirable effect. In 2015, significantly more art was sold abroad. And much larger values are said to have been brought across the border.
After the approval of the Cultural Association of Culture Act by the Federal Council, German collectors, gallery owners, auction houses, museums around the art location Germany feared “Die Welt” in a contribution. "The law produces a new bureaucratic monster," criticized Robert Ketterer, owner and managing director of the Ketterer Art auction house in Munich.
In order to meet the requirements, hundreds, if not thousands of new civil servants, would have to be created in Germany. The regulation testifies to populism and overcome that believed.
Specifically, the amendment to the law stipulates, among other things, that pictures and paintings that are older than 75 years and have at least 300,000 euros are no longer allowed to leave Germany without export approval.

Our project of the week: Ai Weiwei and his work of art from life vests
The Chinese and regime -critical artist Ai Weiwei again visualizes the refugee issue in his art. For example, beach goods of rescued refugees and a Chinese temple are the center of the exhibition "Translocation - Transformation" in Vienna.
From a distance, the 1005 used rescue vests that have left refugees on Greek beaches look like stylized water lilies. On a total of 201 floating rings, the strongly politically and socially committed artist has placed them in the park of the Vienna Castle Belvedere - in the form of a large "F". With this picture, which is supposed to express the despair of those affected, the Chinese concept artist advocates more humanity. "That tells so much About us ," he said at the opening of the exhibition "Translocation - Transformation" in Vienna.
