It all began a long time ago with a small bookbindery in Dortmund. To be precise, it was in 1879 when master bookbinder Emil Zimmermann opened his first shop on Prinzenstraße.
Many years have passed since then, and the once small bookbindery has developed into a fully grown art gallery: Galerie Zimmermann & Heitmann GmbH .
It is particularly noteworthy that the gallery has been and still is family-owned since its founding.
Since August 2005, the Kunsthaus has fully arrived in the digital age and launched an offensive with a completely redesigned website featuring extensive shop functionality.
The flagship store has been located in Düsseldorf on Königsallee since 2008/2009.
There you have the opportunity to admire and purchase the works of renowned German and international artists such as Günther Uecker, Jörg Döring, Takashi Murakami , Mel Ramos , Fred Bred, Charles Langellier, Katrin Elm, Jim Avignon, Thomas Baumgärtel, Joni Harbeck, Andreas Lutherer, and Lila Mint, spread over an area of more than 100 square meters on two floors.
There are also some designer toys in between, e.g. from Kidrobot, Toy2R and Frank Kozik.
Headquarters in Dortmund
In the exhibition spaces of the Zimmermann & Heitmann Gallery's main building – located in the heart of Dortmund – you will also find a diverse selection of artworks. There you will find, for example, modern prints, lithographs, objects, and even rare original pieces. Artists such as James Rizzi , Volker Kühn, Udo Lindenberg , David Gerstein, Charles Fazzino, Prof. Klaus Fußmann, Elvira Bach, Heinz Mack, and Janosch exhibit here.
The color lithographs by Pablo Picasso and Professor Fußmann seem to be particularly popular. These can therefore always be found in the exhibition at Zimmermann & Heitmann.
The gallery is particularly appealing due to its relaxed atmosphere, which provides ample space for inspiration. Therefore, take your time to browse and discover new, previously unseen possibilities for designing or enhancing your spaces.
If you're having trouble deciding, the gallery owner even offers the option of taking a selection of paintings home with you. This allows you to see how the works look in your own home completely risk-free.
