This year, Hamburg-based artist Darko Nikolic will be represented as an emerging artist with a solo exhibition. Curated by trade fair manager Hannah Weber-Heidenfels, the exhibition will showcase a selection from Nikolic's work cycle "Archetypes of Concrete Art," which, following in the footsteps of the Constructivists , explores the effects of form and color in 36 large-format paintings.
Darko Nikolic has exhibited extensively in Hamburg and internationally; his works are part of the permanent collection of the Deji Art Museum in Nanjing/China.
We see ourselves as part of the democratization of art and want to show people that art can also be fun. We are a platform that brings international trends to Hamburg, but we are firmly established in the city's art scene."
So says fair director Oliver Lähndorf, looking at the development of the German Affordable Art Fairs in Hamburg and Berlin. Curated art under €1,000: A selection of particularly interesting works under €1,000 will again be shown in a separate section this year. They provide an overview of the range of high-quality works presented by the participating galleries – also for those with smaller budgets.
