Beating (only for loose tapestries): Remove the tapestry and gently shake it outside. Do not beat it vigorously like a floor rug, as this could warp the hanging mechanism.

Lint roller: A clothes lint roller is ideal for removing surface pet hair from smooth acoustic panels.

2. Spot cleaning

If a stain (e.g., fly droppings or a splash) gets on it, do not rub! Rubbing felts the wool and pushes the dirt deeper into acoustic fabrics.

Dab: Take a clean, white cotton cloth and gently dab the stain.

The right water: Use distilled water if possible. Tap water contains limescale, which can leave white marks on dark fabrics.

Cleaning agents:

Do not use harsh cleaning agents.

Dissolve a tiny amount of mild wool detergent or colorless dish soap in lukewarm water.

Use the foam, not the water itself, to treat the stain (less wetness is better).

3. Specific care depending on type

A. Tapestries & Macramé (Wool, Cotton)

Beware of gravity: If you wet a heavy tapestry, it will become extremely heavy. If you hang it up wet, it will warp permanently.

Deep cleaning: Should it ever smell musty or be heavily dusty:

Place in the bathtub with lukewarm water and wool detergent. Press gently, do not wring.

Dry flat: Spread it out on a clothes drying rack (place a towel underneath) until it is completely dry. Only then hang it up again.

Steaming: A hand steamer (steam iron) is ingenious for smoothing out wrinkled fringes and kills bacteria/odors without soaking the fabric.

For cleaning wool carpets, use special wool or carpet detergents and lukewarm water. Before cleaning, shake the carpet thoroughly to remove loose dirt.
